Applying To NDIS
What We Do
The NDIS application process is overwhelming by design— but you don’t have to navigate it alone. We uncover the jargon and hidden nitpicking to help you and your support network understand how the process actually works.
We provide 1 on 1 consultations to help you get through the NDIS application process. Be it a one off consultation or us guiding you through the entire process, we’re here to help!
Who It’s For
This service is for people with disabilities who need support applying for the NDIS, including:
People applying for the first time
Those who’ve been rejected and need to reapply
People struggling to gather the right evidence or navigate medical bureaucracy
Parents, carers, therapists and support networks who need guidance on the process
Lived Experience Coordination — NDIS
What We Do
Navigating the NDIS and mental health systems shouldn’t be a battle—but we know it often is. We provide integrated NDIS Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, or what we like to call Lived Experience Coordination, to help you get the support you need without the usual overwhelm and confusion.
We work alongside you to build a plan that actually makes sense for your life, whether that means finding the right services, adapting to changes in your disability, or making sure your needs are clearly understood and met. Together, we’ll create your tailored Adapting To Disabilities Plan— a practical, flexible guide to map out how you’ll use your various funding categories, and your time with your Lived Experience Coordinator, to manage challenges, find stability, and learn to thrive.
Who It’s For
This service is for NDIS participants who need support with:
Understanding and using their NDIS plan effectively
Finding and connecting with the right services
Navigating complex systems
Adapting to changes in disability and daily life needs
Building independence, confidence, and decision-making skills
Managing the day-to-day challenges of disability
Lived Experience Coordination — Private
What We Do
Not everyone who needs disability support qualifies for the NDIS—and right now, there are no state-based alternatives. But that doesn’t mean you should be left without help.
We provide private, tailored disability support for people who aren’t on the NDIS but still need real, practical assistance. Through one-on-one consultations and practical support, we help you navigate medical systems, workplace adjustments, daily life challenges, and more. We work with you to create a structured Adapting to Disabilities Plan, to give you a clear path forward in finding your right to thrive.
You don’t have to put your life on hold while the system catches up. We offer the support you need, now.
Who It’s For
This service is for people who:
Have disabilities but don’t qualify for the NDIS
Are stuck in limbo while waiting for future state-based services
Need help navigating medical, workplace, or daily life challenges
Aren’t aware of the lesser known disability supports out there
Want a structured Adapting to Disabilities Plan to manage their needs and plan for the future
Speaking, Advocacy & Media
What We Do
Lived experience is powerful— and we refuse to let ableist systems write our narratives for us.
Through speaking, advocacy, and media work, we push for real systemic change in how disability is understood and represented. With a deep understanding of disability, intersectionality, and systemic barriers, our founder Paris Zarmairian brings raw, unapologetic truth to every platform—whether it’s live TV, radio, documentaries, conferences, newspapers, or community events.
From keynote speeches to expert panels, they deliver engaging, informed perspectives grounded in lived experience, disability justice, and the realities & solutions to navigating broken systems.
Who It’s For
This service is for:
Event organisers seeking a speaker for conferences, seminars, or panels
Media outlets needing expert commentary on disability, intersectionality, and systemic issues
Organisations wanting training, workshops, or lived experience perspectives
Community groups looking to deepen their understanding of disability and disability justice
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is an NDIS-funded support for people either with psychosocial disabilities, or experiencing the psychosocial impact of having disabilities. A recovery coach works with you to build skills, connect with the right supports, and develop strategies for managing challenges—so you have more control over your life and future.
-
Support Coordination helps you understand and use your NDIS plan effectively. A support coordinator connects you with the right services, helps you navigate the system, and ensures you get the most out of your funding.
-
Lived Experience Coordination is Slice of Pie’s unique approach to support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching. It integrates both roles while centering lived experience— meaning the support comes from someone who truly understands disability and the disability system from the inside.
-
While free services like LACs (Local Area Coordinators) and advocates exist to help with NDIS applications, many people still come to Slice of Pie for support. Why? Because those services often:
Lack the specialised knowledge needed to provide tailored support
Don’t fully understand the intricacies of NDIS language and requirements
Won’t engage with treating professionals who need guidance on writing supporting evidence
Are simply overrun, with many LACs managing 200–500 participants each, and many advocates having long waitlists or closing their books indefinitely
We offer private services because people need them. When free options aren’t available, aren’t effective, or don’t provide the right kind of support, we step in to make sure people aren’t left struggling alone.
-
We wish they were! No one should have to pay just to access the support they need.
The government funds support for people who are already on the NDIS, but there’s little to no funding for those applying or those who don’t qualify. Free services like LACs and advocacy groups exist, but they’re often overwhelmed or limited in what they can offer.
We hope that one day, our services will be publicly funded and accessible to everyone. Until then, we charge a reasonable rate to ensure you get the quality, in-depth support that isn’t always available through overburdened free services.
-
We always kick off with a free meet ‘n’ greet. The total cost for client services depends on the depth of support required. Our usual rate is $100/h billed in 6 minute increments.
For more detailed pricing options, a free meet ‘n’ greet or a quote specific to your needs, fill out the contact form and we’ll be in touch!

Ah the burning question no one ever answers. Ok let’s break it down. Don’t worry we’ll keep it simple!
NDIS Delegate- a senior Planner.Planner- the person at NDIS who makes your plan/decides your funding allowances.
Local Area Coordinator (LAC)- the person in between you and the NDIS, with limited access to some parts of the NDIS computer system. Sometimes recommends disability services.Plan Manager- like your bookkeeper. Deals with your NDIS invoices.
Lived Experience Coordinator- our unique integration of support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching. Balance between the two depends on each client’s needs.
Support Coordinator- similar to an LAC. More client focus and service recommendations. Less system access. Has to use manual methods to talk to NDIS.
Psychosocial Recovery Coach- like skill building mentoring and guidance.
Support Worker- your in-home, online or out ‘n’ about person of support. Tasks vary greatly. Depends on your needs.

If your meeting is with Paris:
“Absolutely can be if she’ll let me! But most likely from afar. She’s a free roaming rabbit and the only thing she loves more than zoomies is pranking me into playing chasies. So the chances of her sitting on a desk with me are almost nonexistent.”
